1) "Smoking scenes from episodes of Tom & Jerry will be stubbed out after viewers in Britain complained that the violent cat-and-mouse cartoon glamourises the bad habit." (8 Days. p.14, #828)

"Anti-smoking groups that track the entertainment industry say the incidence of smoking scenes in movies, including those aimed at young people, was the highest in the year ending in April of 2005 than it has been since 1994.
Thanks to the combined efforts of Hollywood and celebrity/gossip magazines and television and despite the ban on smoking ads, our society is effectively and successfully teaching our kids that "cool people smoke". Click here to read full article

2) "Britney Spears loves her pooch, Lucky (SNORT), so much she wants to follow the example of the ancient Egyptians and be buried with her mutt. Guess hubby Kevin Federline (DOUBLE snort) just has to look for his own grave plot." (8 Days. p.14, #828)

doctor jokes

Patience. says: (11:54:14 PM)
An 85-year-old man went to his doctor's office to get a sperm count.
The doctor gave the man a jar and said,
"Take this jar home and bring back a semen sample tomorrow."

Patience. says: (11:54:15 PM)
The next day the 85-year-old man reappeared at the doctor's office and gave
him the jar, which was as clean and empty as on the previous day.

Patience. says: (11:54:20 PM)
The doctor asked what happened and the man explained:
"Well, doc, it's like this - First I tried with my right hand, but nothing.
Then I tried with my left hand, but still nothing.

Patience. says: (11:54:25 PM)
Then I asked my wife for help. She tried with her right hand,
then her left, still nothing. She tried with her mouth,
first with the teeth in, then with her teeth out, and still nothing.
We even called up Arleen, the lady next door and she tried too,
first with both hands, then an armpit and she even tried
squeezin' it between her knees, but still nothing."

Patience. says: (11:54:31 PM)
The doctor was shocked! "You asked your neighbor?"

~@ngeles~ ™ ...Commander of the Faithful.. says: (11:54:43 PM)
WTF!!

Patience. says: (11:54:45 PM)
The old man replied, "Yep. And no matter what we tried,
we still couldn't get the jar open."

chinatown

we now officially know our way around chinatown even better than kah yan.

"can take picture some more!"

this isn't happening. it only happens to my older relatives, neighbours or friend's mum. how many times have i heard that "aiyah! so suay, how can i not buy? must be my luck, better go temple to pray tomorrow." yes, it happens, but definitely not to me.

and now that it has, my life has taken a desvestating turn. i have learnt a valuable lesson, that no one is spared from the evil clutches of 4D. i buy occasionally but have yet to even come close to a whiff of winning. so i sort of stopped buying for the past few weeks. and as fate will have it, my aunt, a religious 4D buyer asked me to turn on the wednesday results on teletext.

i regretted it immediately. my eyes did an auto zoom to the third prize and i couldn't freaking believe what i saw. 3300 [my marathon tag number]. yup, an impossible number, but yet.. sigh. thinking about it just brings tears to my eyes. and already sad, i was unprepared for the next attack to come my way - the rage of my aunt! "wah lau, never kai siao, if not i saw buy one!" she said heatedly. "you know how much you can win if you buy 5big 5small?" she carried on, energy flowing into her words. "i don't wanna know," i said depressed. and pretending she didn't hear that, "more than $7000!" she almost shouted into the quiet night. Crushed i was, i tell you.

till today, i am reminded of this everywhere i look. my blog, when i buy the "xiao lao ban" seaweed ($3.30), my marathon t-shirt. sigh, nowadays life's just an endless 3300s. now i know better than to take chances. i picked a coin yesterday and today, i'm gonna buy the year at the back of the coin.

take a chance? bah! not me.

what's in a hair?

real run '06

clark quay at noon

crowds. bah. we just don't mix. put me in a crowded bus, train, esplanade when fireworks are on and i'll be moodier than stale bread. which is why i really enjoyed my walk alone through clark quay last sunday. there were few people, mostly tourist taking a stroll enjoying the quiet in an old place, rich in history. before the changes, shophouses along clark quay and chinatown, the national library.. these made singapore, singapore.

yet, attempts to modernise such places, leaves an aftertaste of bittersweet.

'garage' sale!

we never fail to have a good time at desmond's even though it's only the 5 of us BCs. the place's looking kinda empty already, and you wouldn't believe what's on the walls. trust desmond and marie to create havoc just before they move out! we 'whacked' two tubs plus of ice-cream and got our hands on anything that was free. heh. others like books ($1-$3) and plants ($1) we bought it off des.

he and marie saved a kitten from a drain, and it's officially called zinash. like all BCs gathering, there were lots of laugh, food and drinks. most importantly, great company! and a little hanky panky. hmmm...

A Walk Home ( and a lot more )

the day started out with me waking up at 8 (yes, me) to go see my sister run her event at school. and while i'd really like to say i saw her win, running past the finish line with a huge smile of vicotry on her face, and tears in my eyes, i in reality reached 15 mins late, and thus only got to see her sticker on her t-shirt stating she came in first. so i was thinking, what a waste! but the day turned out much than a fuhua primary school sports day.

i left primary school so long that i forgot what it was like, and today brought back some memories. i forgot how there was the parent-teacher association where parents volunteered to help out at school events, and how after the kids events there were parent-teacher-kid events where everyone participated. teachers rounded up the kids, then the kids disperse. the teacher rounds them up again, and they disperse. this cycle went on from when i reached till the prize giving ceremony. i was entertained. and while the little brats are no longer as well-behaved as, ahem namely me when i was young (i saw a few boys using their water bottles to hit their dads on the butt), they are still very cute and interesting to watch. just dun make me look after them.

school ended at 10.30 and for that moment i was in hell. havoc and chaos reigned, poor teachers. i spotted my sister and escaped fast. we walked to a macdonald's 15 mins away and had breakfast. there's a playground at that outlet (you seldom see those at mac anymore nowadays). so she played for a bit, while i got myself a tea and another burger for just 30cents! They were clearing the morning mac muffins and i guess they got me. everyone knows i don't exactly eat like a mouse. ahem, but that's really not the point here.

and so began our walk home. that took about 45 mins but it was a really short 45 mins. i enjoyed it, and so did my sister. we talked and laughed, i think it's one of the best times we've spent together so far. thing is, both of us enjoy nature, and we saw lots of interesting things. we were totally relaxed and that 45 mins was spent just being ourselves. we only passed a jogger and a someone in a weird hat riding a bike. and while the cars zoomed past us, we felt like it was a world of our own. and the ironic thing is, while the road (a busy one) is just beside it, it actually felt like an escape into nature.

we saw something that made me suddenly stop for a while. not physically, but mentally. not the dramatic kind la, but a sudden realisation of i dunno, how much i've grown? or forgot simple pleasures in life. my sister plucked a flower from the mimosa plant, or rather known as "touch-me-nots". and while she initially thought that the flower (in pink) was beautiful, she was even more enticed by the leaves that close, upon human touch. and it really made you happy just doing that. makes you feel that nature's really.. amazing. subtle, yet always there. it's abilities not always known until you make an attempt to understand it.

we saw wild mushrooms, variety of flowers. we even found a pond further in, or whatever you call that. probably because of the rain last night, the was a constant stream of water falling into the pond and the funny thing was there are fish in it. all the cars zoom past the road and they don't know about it. in all, i had fun and really enjoyed myself. for what started as a seemingly lousy day, i must say it's turning out pretty well!

it was really nice, but sadly my camera couldn't capture it's true beauty. closest is the last picture, but the real thing was much better.

peanutbutterchocolatebread

maybe i'd explain the address of my blog in my first post. not exactly revolutionary i know, but at least it'll give me something to fill the spaces and think of what i'm gonna add next. well, i actually wanted www.peanutbutterandchocolateicecreaandbread.blogspot.com But that wouldn't be appropriate would it? i mean what if paris hilton wanted to visit my blog? she'd only get to maybe butter then not know how to spell and, or worse, get distracted by her pooch and type in www.peanutbutterohshitmydogjustshit.blogspot.com ! then she'd end up in nicole richie's blog and get angry and totally forget about mine. which is why i think i'm quite smart.

but compliments aside, there's another reason why i gave my blog this address, and this part, my dear reader, IS revolutionary. it's a creation of all creation, the king of the foodchain (regarding all food concerning chocolate, peanutbutter and bread), the ONE that you've been looking for. it is the ultimate night time snack that you just can't get enough of! and me being me, i'm gonna share it with all you poor common folks out there who has yet to try it. ahem, and if paris you are reading this blog, please send me an email.

alright, here's what you need.

1) sunshine bread. (specifics people. only sunshine bread)
2) skippy's chunky peanut butter
3) wall's chocolate heaven
4) a toaster

and here's what to do:

1) toast the bread, set at about 4 minutes
2) take out the bread and spread a GENEROUS portion of peanut butter over it
3) scoop (from experience, use a metal spoon, easier to navigate your way through the frozen tub) the ice cream and put about 2 scoops over the peanut butter.
4) sandwich it
5) take a bite
6) spread your wings and fly

i'm not kidding it really is that good! messy yes, but heavenly.

so this is me at twenty. tried a few odd jobs, and now i can add chef into my resume. i dunno if i'm exactly happy with the way my life turned out, i'm not too worried yet. i'm still twenty for about half a year, and you're only young once. i'll leave my worrying for after NS. and though i'm not really funny and engaging, please still do frop me an email paris.
