A Walk Home ( and a lot more )

the day started out with me waking up at 8 (yes, me) to go see my sister run her event at school. and while i'd really like to say i saw her win, running past the finish line with a huge smile of vicotry on her face, and tears in my eyes, i in reality reached 15 mins late, and thus only got to see her sticker on her t-shirt stating she came in first. so i was thinking, what a waste! but the day turned out much than a fuhua primary school sports day.

i left primary school so long that i forgot what it was like, and today brought back some memories. i forgot how there was the parent-teacher association where parents volunteered to help out at school events, and how after the kids events there were parent-teacher-kid events where everyone participated. teachers rounded up the kids, then the kids disperse. the teacher rounds them up again, and they disperse. this cycle went on from when i reached till the prize giving ceremony. i was entertained. and while the little brats are no longer as well-behaved as, ahem namely me when i was young (i saw a few boys using their water bottles to hit their dads on the butt), they are still very cute and interesting to watch. just dun make me look after them.

school ended at 10.30 and for that moment i was in hell. havoc and chaos reigned, poor teachers. i spotted my sister and escaped fast. we walked to a macdonald's 15 mins away and had breakfast. there's a playground at that outlet (you seldom see those at mac anymore nowadays). so she played for a bit, while i got myself a tea and another burger for just 30cents! They were clearing the morning mac muffins and i guess they got me. everyone knows i don't exactly eat like a mouse. ahem, but that's really not the point here.

and so began our walk home. that took about 45 mins but it was a really short 45 mins. i enjoyed it, and so did my sister. we talked and laughed, i think it's one of the best times we've spent together so far. thing is, both of us enjoy nature, and we saw lots of interesting things. we were totally relaxed and that 45 mins was spent just being ourselves. we only passed a jogger and a someone in a weird hat riding a bike. and while the cars zoomed past us, we felt like it was a world of our own. and the ironic thing is, while the road (a busy one) is just beside it, it actually felt like an escape into nature.

we saw something that made me suddenly stop for a while. not physically, but mentally. not the dramatic kind la, but a sudden realisation of i dunno, how much i've grown? or forgot simple pleasures in life. my sister plucked a flower from the mimosa plant, or rather known as "touch-me-nots". and while she initially thought that the flower (in pink) was beautiful, she was even more enticed by the leaves that close, upon human touch. and it really made you happy just doing that. makes you feel that nature's really.. amazing. subtle, yet always there. it's abilities not always known until you make an attempt to understand it.

we saw wild mushrooms, variety of flowers. we even found a pond further in, or whatever you call that. probably because of the rain last night, the was a constant stream of water falling into the pond and the funny thing was there are fish in it. all the cars zoom past the road and they don't know about it. in all, i had fun and really enjoyed myself. for what started as a seemingly lousy day, i must say it's turning out pretty well!

AWWWW ... I do miss our primary school times. We were from the AVA club remember and we were pretty good. Okay I have a confession to make. You know everyday we have to go to Mr.Chua's table and take the key to open the black AV cupboard then at the end of the day we have to put it back in his table? Yah, on the last day of school, I never did put it back. I guess i wanted to take a piece of memory back with me. And yes, I still have the key!
