To Steve Irwin, With Love.
Some moments in life you'll never forget. Life as predictable as it is, sometimes throw at you what you least expected. We watch movies and dramas, their script merely exagerated versions of our lives. You watch reel chararcters die and sometimes shed tears. It seems so real. But yet when it happens to real people, some how you can't believe they're really gone.
Steve Irwin, better known lovingly to the masses as 'the crocodile hunter' was killed by a stingray on Monday, (4th Sept 2006) while snorkelling off Australia's northeast coast. Police who watched the tape said Steve did not seem to be threatening the creature. He was swimming above it, when the stingray turned on him. It used its serrated barb and pierced Steve's chest. Steve lost conscious immediately after pulling it out.
Steve is known best for his tv series "The Crocodile Hunter". Shown daily on Animal Planet, his show provides fun and entertainment for many families. Not to mention, it educates people of all ages the need to save animals from cruelty and poaching.
For me, i'll always remember Steve as a whirlwind of energy, fun and dare. I wouldn't say i'm an avid fan, but I have enjoyed every single episode that I watched, and watching re-runs now feels painful, because he's no longer physically with us. As one of the many viewers of the series, i mourn the loss of this great tv personality and naturalist, while at the same time i feel for his family. Hosting with his wife, and his daughter Bindi and son Bob making occasional appearances, the show is reality tv at it's truest. we can only imagine how they are feeling.. and i want to offer them my deepest consolation, and pray that they will move on when it is time.
Steve is truly a great person, whose passion shone through his personality. He did great things in and with his life, that many of us respect. We have grown to love him and he will always live in our hearts.
